The Spin Result

Doc2The Classics Club has spoken: the spin number is 17. That means that by October 6, I will read James Stephens’ The Charwoman’s Daughter. I know next to nothing about the author or the work; according to Goodreads, Stephens was an Irish poet and novelist, and the story takes place in a poor Dublin neighborhood at the beginning of the 20th century.

I found the title listed on qwiklit.com’s “20 Classics You Have Never Heard Of,” so I don’t feel quite so bad about being unfamiliar with it. At only 124 pages, it should be no problem to read it by October.

Are you happy with your spin result?

  1. I first heard of The Charwoman’s Daughter earlier this year, and I’ve been wondering about it ever since. I hope you enjoy it!

I got Two Serious Ladies by Jane Bowles, which pleased me very much.

  2. I’ve also never heard of the book or the author, but it takes place in Dublin, that’s definitely a plus. I have to read George Orwell’s 1984. It was on my dreading-to-read-list.
